Description
Eltrombopag is used to increase the number of platelets ( red blood cells) in the body. It is used in adults, older and children with 1 years of age or above. It is used in the treatment of chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), Hepatitis C or Aplastic anemia. It belongs to a class of medications called thrombopoietin receptor agonists. It is manufactured and marketed by Natco Pharma Limited.
Low platelet count, also known as thrombocytopenia, refers to a decrease in the number of platelets in the blood. Platelets are small blood cells involved in blood clotting. Low platelet count can lead to an increased risk of bleeding or difficulty in stopping bleeding.
This medicine stimulates the cells in the bone marrow to produce more blood cells. It increases the number of platelets.
